Smoothies are very popular. Earlier I used only fruits or only vegetables in my smoothies. I did not combine them. Then I realized what good combinations are possible and started experimenting. Veggies, Fruits and Health
Just because you eat only vegetables and fruits, it doesn’t mean your diet is healthy. Not all but lots of fruits are high in carbs. For this reason, you need to moderate your fruit intake on a low-carb diet. The sweetness of fruits is coming from the mixture of fructose and glucose. Studies show that excess fructose is associated with many health problems, including obesity, type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome. Always pay attention to the quantity. If you’re already eating a healthy real food base diet with plenty of protein and fat, small amounts of fructose from fruit won’t cause harm.
Tip!
Do not add any sugar or sweetener to this smoothie. The mango is sweet enough itself.
The Tropical Mango
The mango is cultivated in most frost free tropical and warmer subtropical climates. Exported fruit are often picked while underripe with green peels. Artificially ripened, exported mangoes do not have the same juiciness or flavor as fresh fruit.
It’s possible to buy fresh, naturally ripened mangoes in The Netherlands, hopefully in other countries too. They are delivered for the customers less than 24 hours after picking. A special label on them with an airplane icon shows that mango arrived freshly and ripened. These mangoes are more delicious than others. Ask the greengrocer and if he has this mango in the store, buy it!

Ingredients
- 1 mango peeled and sliced
- ½ apple peeled and sliced
- 40 gram fresh spinach washed
- ½ lemon juice
- 2 tbsp coconut yogurt
Instructions
- Put all ingredients into blender and blend for 3-4 minutes, until it’s smooth. Enjoy!
