Yummy Edible Gift Ideas

I say it’s never too early for Christmas gifts. This year we won’t be able to have everyone over for Christmas. But you can still share food from your kitchen by making edible gifts. I’ve put together 12 edible gift ideas that are already on the blog to inspire you. You can double portions and make for multiple friends. Or mix and match with other items and create an entire basket. From sweet to savory including plenty of chocolate items. Because everyone likes chocolate right…

 1. Chocolate Pistachio Cookies

Vanilla cookies

I’ll start with this classic. I came up with this recipe last year during Christmas. My mom was visiting us and asked me several times to make this again during the course of her stay. And I even had to make her a special cookie box to take back home with her. They keep for one week. Although I doubt they have ever made it that far because they are so delicious. Make a few days ahead for the best result.

2. Gluten Free Almond Biscotti

Gluten Free Almond Biscotti

A classic if you ask me. Almond biscotti just goes with everything and makes for the perfect gift. Just make sure you allow it to dry and cool down completely before you put them in an airtight container. They keep for up to 2 weeks. If you have time you can spice it up with some melted chocolate. Nobody ever complains about having too much chocolate.

3. Jam Filled Coconut Balls

Baked Plums with Walnut and Honey

These are delicious and anyone will be happy to get these as a little present. Make a cookie tin with other cookies and provide a variety of cookies. These are slightly more perishable so I would suggest making them last minute.

4. Vanilla Cookies

Vanilla cookie

Another classic. Simple but delicious vanilla cookies. Make these for a new acquaintance on the road to become friends. You don’t really know what they like yet. So, better play it safe with vanilla cookies. Or make it part of the ensemble in the cookie tin.

5. Chocolate Chip Coconut Macaroons

Chocolate Chip Coconut Macaroons

Simple coconut macaroons but then with chocolate chip. After vanilla cookies this would be another safe bet flavor wise. It’s also an excellent addition to that cookie tin. I think that should cover it. What’s better than a box of vanilla cookies, almond biscotti, jam filled coconut balls and chocolate chip macaroons. Happy Days!

6. Paleo Bounty Coconut Bar

Paleo Bounty Coconut Bar

In the category a little chocolate and whole lot of coconut we have a paleo bounty coconut bar. Make these a day ahead and keep refrigerated at all times. They are so decadent and yummy it will be a joy for anyone unwrapping it.

7. Hazelnut Chocolate Cream ‘Nutella’

Homemade Nutella

Nutella, yes Nutella. But since that is the brand and trademarked we won’t claim it. Instead you get hazelnut chocolate cream. Which is the same thing. Imagine how happy you would be if you got a jar of uhm… hazelnut chocolate cream. And now you get to spread to joy through chocolate. I would be jumping for joy with a gift like this.

8. Home-Made Paleo lemon Curd

Lemon Curd

If your friend is more into sharp flavors… why not make the lemon curd. Because it is made with eggs it should be stored in the fridge and will keep for 2-3 weeks. A perfect spread for Christmas morning. On pancakes, scones, cakes. It really works on anything!

9. Vegan Carrot Seeds Cracker

Carrots Seeds Crackers

Now for something savory. The perfect gift for your friend who enjoys a nice cheese platter. You can omit some of the spices in the recipe to get a more neutral cracker that goes with everything. Because of the dehydrating process and the fact that it is vegan it will actually keep for weeks. If stored in an airtight container of course.

10. Cranberry Sauce with Port and Orange

Chocolate Brownie

This you can actually make a week in advance because it has alcohol in it. Therefore, it will also keep for longer. If you are planning to gift this, make sure you time it right and give it before Christmas. That way they know in advance they won’t need to make cranberry sauce. One less item to make over the holidays. Perfect!

11. Pika – Spicy Pickled Onion

Pika - Spicy Pickled Onion

For your friend that loves spicy food. Pickled spicy onions that goes with everything. I mean extra spicy for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The best part, it keeps for months since it’s pickled. You can make this a week in advance and keep refrigerated.

12. Onion Chutney with Raisin

And last but not least an onion chutney. A great spread to have over the holidays and after. Pairs great with that cheese platter I mentioned before and they already have the crackers. But it can also be used as side for grilled meat.

The Perfect Edible Gift

Whichever way you decide to go with gifts this season. There are plenty of options when it comes to edible gifts. Just have fun with it and think about the person and their likes when considering what to make for them. That’s my tip when it comes to finding the perfect edible gift or any gift for that matter.
